THE EXPOSED

POP-UP GALLERY          FEBRUARY 23RD        39 FELL STREET, SAN FRANCISCO        6 - 9 PM

The Exposed is pop-up show put on by Julia Sorensen (mixed-media), Messy Beck (painter) and Kimber Shaw (photographer).  We’ll be exhibiting both individual and collaborative pieces that have been in the works for the past year. While thematically, our work speaks to a variety of contemporary issues such as feminism, identity, and freedom of thought, ultimately we believe the biggest power art yields, is that of love and its ability to unify.

For the past two and a half years Julia, Rachel and Kimber have been living a life of collaboration and creativity. Six months ago Julia and Kimber were asked to relocate to Hawaii for work. We found it imperative that we create something representative of our love for art and one another before they move. Therein, The Exposed was conceived.

As we began developing a body of work that exposed exactly who we are as artists, we noticed an organic emergence of overlapping themes of sexuality and identity amongst all of our pieces. At this point we decided to make The Exposed about more than just us and our work. We found it essential that its' message had a bigger impact. Therefore, we will be giving 15% of the proceeds to Planned Parenthood.

We hope you join us for a night of love and art, February 23rd in San Francisco. All pieces on this page are available for purchase and will be on display and for sale at the show.
